Langtang
is one of the most beautiful treks in the Himalaya.
Its high alpine valley is inhabited by a Yak herding
tribe closely related to Tibetans. It lies north of
Kathmandu, a scenic bus drives away. Dhunche is the
major village, district headquarters for this area
and gateway to the Langtang National Park. As we trek
towards the Langtang valley we are walking through
the pine, oak and rhododendron forests. Spring in
Langtang, when the flowers are in bloom, is really
a trekkers paradise. After countless beautiful villages
& mountain views, we arrive at our destination
in Kyanjen Gompa, a huge valley with mountains all
around and where the glaciers meet the alpine meadows.
Retreating downhill we then ascend again towards the
sacred lake of Gosaikunda. Then we trek south east
towards Kathmandu valley crossing the high Lauribina
Pass and enjoying the beautiful Sherpa region of Helambu.
