Ramdung (5750 m) in the Rolwaling Valley and Tesi Laptsa
(5755 m) Pass Climb the beautiful Ramdung in the remote
Rolwaling Valley and cross the challenging Tesi Laptsa
pass into the Khumbu. We drive to Charikot and trek
through the Bhote Kosi and Sun Kosi valleys with forested
ridges and terraced farmland. After four days we enter
the forbidden Rolwaling valley on the Tibetan border
below the towering peaks of Gauri Shankar (7147 m) and
Melungtse (7181 m). We reach Na, the highest settlement
in the valley, after six days of trekking and spend
an acclimatization day there before moving on to Ramdung
Base Camp and High Camp with fantastic views towards
Tibet and the Khumbu. Climbing Ramdung is straightforward
and after the climb we trek towards the challenging
Tesi Laptsa pass (5750 m). Below the pass we set up
camp below Parchamo (6273 m) and cross Tesi Laptsa into
the Khumbu the following day. We trek down to Thame
and the colorful Sherpa Capital, Namche Bazaar. In Namche
we spend two nights in before trekking out to Lukla
for the exciting flight back to Kathmandu.
